World Autism Awareness Day

Trampoline Boy by Nan Forler and Marion Arbona is a beautiful book about a boy who bounces every day on his trampoline, up into the deep blue sky, enjoying the incredible views.  Unfortunately, all the children who pass by don't understand Trampoline Boy.  They taunt him and call him names; everyone but Peaches.  Peaches stops and watches Trampoline Boy day after day as he bounces until one day she asks what he sees up high in the sky.

A beautiful book inside and out about embracing differences.  The illustrations by Marion Arboma are vivd and vibrant and convey the awe and beauty that Trampoline Boy experiences up in the clouds.  The book design is very unique, thin and tall, just like Trampoline Boy's trajectory and world view, more vertical than horizontal.  We all see the world differently, some more deeply than others.  It's our unique perspectives that make our world rich and colourful and vibrant.  Trampoline Boy is the perfect book to share this month, as yesterday was World Autism Awareness Day.  This book is a fabulous reminder about inclusion and acceptance.  Peaches is who we should all be, quiet, caring and patient.  We should all take the time to appreciate and accept the beautiful differences and try to spend some time in Trampoline Boy's world.
