Suspenseful with a Twist
Have you ever played games in the dark? Think hide and go seek or sardines with the extra element of the pitch black of night. Maybe you have even played Spirits and Specters just like Xander, Priya, Omar and Li in Marty Chan’s novel Haunted Hospital.
Whether you are an urban explorer or an avid gamer, Haunted Hospital will definitely appeal. Part of the Orca Currents collection by Orca Book Publishers, it’s a high interest story that’s incredibly readable. Perfect for reluctant readers or readers that just don’t like to get bogged down by overly descriptive text. Marty Chan drops you right into the action from the first sentence and keeps the action moving all the way to the last sentence. Haunted Hospital is so engaging it will be hard not to read it in one sitting.
I love how it is full of snappy and witty dialogue and enough description for readers to be able to picture the setting, the abandoned hospital, and feel the cold shivers down their spines with Xander as he goes exploring. I also like that it’s a safe story. There are no dire consequences to the characters, just teenagers having some fun and getting into a little trouble along the way. Xander, Priya, Omar and Li are good friends, not leaving anyone behind as all great literary friendships should be.
If you have an older, middle grade and up, reader who is having trouble finding books to connect with, check out the Orca Currents or Orca Sounding series by Orca Book Publishers. There are so many amazing and engaging titles for readers who are looking to be swept away by a story.
