Running From the Moon

As the weather grows cold and the days grow shorter, the moon dominates the sky. In Little Moar and the Moon by Roselynn Akulukjuk and Jazmine Gubbe, Moar doesn’t love the moon and always sees a spooky half smile when he looks up into the night sky.

Little Moar loves playing outdoors with his friends but once the sun starts to sink in the sky, he knows the moon will make an early appearance. He needs to get home to beat the moon but when he is constantly distracted, it takes a little while longer to get there. Luckily the moon hides behind a cloud long enough for him to race home and make it through the door.

Little Moar and the Moon is a sweet little story about those childhood fears that seem very real to the child but are really nothing to be worried about according to adults. What were your childhood fears? I always thought there was an alligator living under my bed at night. In Moar’s mind the moon is always following him with its sinister smile making sure he makes it home at a reasonable hour. It's a perfect story to ease your readers into the cozy fall.

Jazmine Gubbe’s animation style illustrations pop against a dreamy, watery background and really draw the readers into the story.
