Made 4 You

Made 4 You

Spine tingling suspense, romance and something seemingly not quite human, Made 4 You by Eric Walters is a captivating young adult mystery!

Becky is a high school student living in a small sleepy town. When a new student, Gene Newman, shows up her life immediately changes, making her small town life a lot more interesting.

Right off the bat, readers will realize something about Gene is off. Eric Walters slowly teases readers, revealing a tiny bit about Gene at a time leaving us continuously guessing about who or what he is. Becky is your typical high school overachiever, looking for things to add to her university applications and jumps at the chance to be Gene’s host. There is the questioning and the anxiety over her feelings for Gene and vice versa. Eric Walters creates this perfect mix of mystery and suspense with a whole lot of love at first sight thrown in to help readers escape into the story.

I found myself constantly questioning Gene’s character and because I only got little tidbits of information at a time, I found it very hard to put the story down. I just needed to know where the story was going! When we finally learn about Gene, his family and his motivations, the story takes off. Becky and Gene are running for their lives, dodging shady characters and police along the way. Eric Walter’s captures the intrigue and suspense that make network television shows like FBI so captivating in this fast paced young adult novel.

There is a refreshing innocence to Gene. I really loved the fact that he wasn’t jaded by life or the high school experience. He was almost too innocent which is one of the reasons I was suspicious of him through the entire story. I could identify with Becky. I grew up in a small, sleepy town where literally nothing exciting ever happened. I was a bit of a high school go getter and always loved the idea of someone new arriving at school to sweep me off my feet. It never happened but it was always a lovely fantasy.

The last few chapters were non stop action and suspense. Eric Walters keeps readers on their toes the whole time! I really loved the premise of the story and feel like it’s not too far removed from reality. Who knows what kinds of experiments are going on behind closed doors that we just don’t know about.
