Hi.

Sun in my Tummy

Sun in my Tummy

We have long heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but why is that? In Laura Alary’s new picture book Sun in My Tummy, illustrated by Andrea Blinick, we learn just why it’s important to fuel up in the morning.

When a mother is encouraging her child to eat a delicious breakfast, she shares why it’s important and how these delicious breakfast items make their way into our tummy’s. In this free verse nonfiction picture book, readers learn all about the magic of science! We learn how the sun turns the green on the plants into sugar which fuels growth for all living creatures.

Sun in my Tummy is a fantastic introduction to energy and matter concepts for young readers. These really big topics are broken down into bite sized, child friendly ideas, planting seeds for young readers to better understand these concepts as they grow. Laura Alary takes readers on a trip through backyards and fields, visiting the plants and the animals that help bring breakfast to our tables every morning. She reminds young readers of how the sun fuels everything and by eating a healthy breakfast, we will have the sun in our tummies all day long.

Andrea Blinik’s illustrations are a collage of colour. Big skies, friendly animals, paper collage plants and insects all combine together in this bright and tremendously inviting picture book.
