TA-DA! A Story of Egg Donation

TA-DA! A Story of Egg Donation

There are many, many different ways to make a family and finally, come September 6th, a book for families to help tell their unique family story. In Ta-Da! A Story of Egg Donation, debut author Ella Kay and Illustrator Farida Zaman explain how one family came to be thanks to the generosity of egg donation.

As many children do, the little girl in the story wants to hear her birth story. Through simple text and brilliant illustrations she learns how she was made with the help of an egg donation.

With little to no picture books in the marketplace about egg donation, Ta-Da! will hold a special place for families. Many families are now created through egg donation, sperm donation and IVF and it’s important for families to have books that reflect their own stories. Ella Kay’s writing is simple and straightforward. She does not over explain the process and writes a story that is celebratory, exciting and full of love and gratitude. The simplicity makes this book perfect for early learners as a first introduction to their birth story.

This book came onto my radar at the perfect time as a friend asked if there are any books available about just such a topic. I am excited that children and families are finally able to have a book that reflects this unique journey.

Farida Zaman’s illustrations reflect the celebratory feeling of the book. Bold and colourful illustrations fill each page and are simple and easy for children to interpret.
