Furry Apocalypse Tale
If you like animals and zombies, have I got the book for you! Trip of the Dead by Angela Misri is a tale of adventure and heroism from the perspective of a raccoon during a zombie apocalypse.
When Trip the raccoon begins to wonder if he is the only raccoon left on earth, he and some of his animal friends head out on a quest to find out where all of the raccoons have gone. He has an eclectic group of friends, including a burrowing owl, several cats, an aggressive hamster and many other animals, all living in a camp with the humans, fighting off the zombie invasion. Along the way, even more animals join this rag-tag bunch of survivors including a beaver family, an incredibly fancy squirrel and a loyal corgi.
Trip of the Dead is hilarious, it’s action packed and suspenseful and a reminder that a family can be made of many different species. Along the way, Trip discovers who he is and gains confidence and leadership abilities. As a victim of bullying, before the quest he was a follower and needed to learn how to keep his family safe and lead them along their journey.
For any readers interested, Trip of the Dead is a novel that stands on it’s own. I had not read Angela Misri’s first book, Pickles Vs The Zombies, and I do think I would have understood the characters and the setting a little better had I read the first book. Something to keep in mind. Also, there is scheduled to be a third book called Valhamster which I’m quite sure will focus on Emmy, the aggressive hamster and I CANNOT wait to find out where Angela Misri takes us.
