Valhamster

Hotly anticipated in our household, Valhamster by Angela Misri did not disappoint. Action packed and a gripping ending, it’s an excellent third book in the Tails from the Apocalypse series.

Emmy, the fierce and feisty zombie hunter, has realized she is becoming attached to the other animals in The Menagerie and that is never a good thing for a fierce warrior, attachments make you weak. When the other animals then go and invite a weasel, of all animals, into their home, Emmy knows it’s time to leave and forge her place amongst the other mighty warriors and earn her place in Valhamster.

Just like Pickles vs The Zombies and Trip off the Dead before it, Valhamster plunges the readers into the grips of a zombie apocalypse with the animals taking front and centre in these stories. From the very start readers are off on another adventure, this time with Emmy leading the charge, along with the weasel, Wheels, a rabbit named Spike and faithful Diana. We get to meet some new characters along the way, including a frightening gang of feral guinea pigs all the while, Emmy learns what it means to be a warrior.

Angela Misri’s writing is so engaging with lots of superb dialogue. I love a good chatty story with lots of action. Although description is necessary to set the scene, I find at times it takes away from the story. Not in this case! Angela Misri’s descriptions kept me engaged and in the action. I especially loved how the story ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, meaning there will be more Tails from the Apocalypse tales yet to come. Angela Misri seems to be inching closer to a potential end to the apocalypse and you know it will be the animals that will save the day.
