The Trials of Bedtime
Our favourite bird is back in Jeremy Tankard's new story Sleepy Bird published by Scholastic Canada. Good old Bird, who is a little bit demanding and a whole lot sarcastic, is back and he does not want to go to sleep. All of his animal friends are tired and offer him suggestions to help him settle down to go to sleep but Bird insists he is not tired. As always, his friends come to his aid and Bird realizes he is in fact very tired and finally settles down to sleep, but for how long?
Children and parents alike can relate to this cheeky little book. Children are forever making up excuses as to why they are not tired and why they should not go to sleep and parents are forever trying to get them down to bed for the night or for a nap. It's those incredibly short naps/sleeps that leave us feeling a lot like Bird's friends at the end of the story. A fabulous book to read to help your little one drift off to dreamland, or at least find the humour in the bedtime routine struggles.
Jeremy Tankard's vivid art in this book is on point as we come to expect from the Bird books. Dark outlines, bright, inviting colours and fun detailed backgrounds make this one you will definitely want to add to your collection.
