Hi.

Welcome to my reviews.  Enjoy, take some time to discover a new book!  Happy reading!

Danger Eagle

Danger Eagle

A triumphant story of play, imagination and superheroes, Danger Eagle by Jesse Wente and Shaikara David is sure to be a storytime favourite.

Danger Eagle is always ready to save the day and perform death defying stunts of bravery. When a new nemesis rolls into town, they challenge Danger Eagle to the ultimate stunt. Will Danger Eagle be able to perform the stunt and foil his nemesis?

Jesse Wente pays tribute to stunt performers in this super fun and super engaging picture book. There is nothing better than a penguin who is desperate to fly and Danger Eagle is no different. A stunt penguin whose first name is Danger, the story is set up like a comic with speech bubbles and the text in text boxes throughout the story. Adults, you will not be able to help reading this with a little extra in your voice.

I love how this book is just filled with imaginative play! The whole story is a child setting up the scenario Danger Eagle will experience and then following through on the narrative. They also incorporate their cousin’s stuffy friend into the play, creating the perfect superhero/final boss storyline.

This book is so much fun to read and because it’s so fun to read, young readers will want to hear and explore the story over and over and over so be prepared for this book to be a frequent request.

Shaikara David’s illustrations are action packed throughout the story. I love the comic book feel to the story and the big illustrations embody the mood perfectly. They pictures have a softness to them giving them an old movie reel quality without sacrificing the boldness so that the story is perfect for cuddle up time and real aloud time.
