So I’m a few days late for World Read Aloud Day, but really do we need an official day for reading aloud?  Why not take some time every day to read a book out loud to someone, anyone, even your dog or cat? Why not give Fox and Raccoon by Lesley-Anne Green a try?  This cute little story featuring the most adorable little needle felted buddies Fox and Raccoon.

Fox and Raccoon are the best of friends, but like all friends they can have their ups and downs.  One day, Raccoon is eager to play with Fox but Fox is much too busy so like a good friend would, Raccoon eagerly lends a hand.  Raccoon ends up all over Juniper Hollow, running errands and helping his friend in the hopes Fox will be finished her work and ready to play.  Near the end of the day, Raccoon returns, with flowers in hand to Fox’s house right in time for a big surprise.

Fox and Raccoon is a very sweet little story about friendship featuring the most adorable little characters all created using needle felted wool.  Lesley-Anne Green creates a wonderful little world in Juniper Hollow, filled with all kinds of delightful neighbours, who just like helping each other out.  The level of detail in all of her creations is impeccable and she really creates this wonderful little idyllic world. I just wanted to jump into the story and join Fox and Raccoon in Juniper Hollow.  I really hope we will see more stories featuring the lovely friends and neighbours in their quaint little town. There are times when you need a hard hitting story to inspire and allow for questioning and there are times when we just need a lovely, feel good buddy story, and Fox and Raccoon is just the ticket.
