Join The No-Plastic Challenge!
Plastics are a scourge on our planet. The prevalence of single use plastics is creating all kinds of problems for wildlife not only on land but especially in the oceans. Single use plastic is something we as a family are trying our best to combat and are making more mindful choices when we shop. Thankfully Scot Ritchie has a book to help explain the plastic problem to our children and encourage everyone to go plastic free - Join the No-Plastic Challenge.
In his unique style of non-fiction picture book with a comic feel, Scot Ritchie breaks down the plastic manufacturing process, shows readers how plastic pollution affects wildlife and gives them practical solutions to counteract the plastic problem. It’s a fantastic book to help guide our young people to make conscious choices to be better and use less plastic. I also love that after reading this book, children will take on the cause, they will advocate for using less plastics in their schools and homes. The Bear and The Bee are so fortunate to go to a platinum eco school that is taking on the challenge of eliminating single use plastics from their school. The process has already started and it's the students that have driven the change. Join the No-Plastic Challenge! Is a book you can share with your children and students. On Friday, September 20th and Friday, September 27th children all around the participated in the Global Climate Strike. All people are encouraged to join in the fight to protect our planet and encourage world leaders to start making climate change a priority. Fridays for Future has encouraged students to make their voices heard, you can do the same by sharing books such as Join the No-Plastic Challenge! By Scot Ritchie.
For those in the Toronto and surrounding area, the Toronto Zoo is hosting the Washed Ashore - Art to Save the Sea exhibition until November. It’s an incredible exhibition of art created by plastics that have washed onto the beaches. You will be absolutely astounded by the items contained in these beautiful works of art.
