See It, Dream It, Do It

A follow up to their first collaboration, Colleen Nelson and Kathie MacIsaac come together again to share unique and interesting people and the careers that fulfill them in See it, Dream it, Do It illustrated by Scot Ritchie.

In this middle grade browsable non fiction title, the authors share many different and interesting careers with readers. They found incredibly interesting people to interview such as a funeral director, a content creator, a paleontologist, etc. So many different careers held by many different people. I really appreciated that they seemed to purposefully seek out people in non traditional roles as well as people from different backgrounds and experiences to highlight to readers how any job can be theirs if they dream it to be.

Throughout each person’s biography, Colleen and Kathie offer not only a detailed description of how the person ended up in their role or job but they also offer all kinds of asides and tips for readers who think they want to pursue something similar. There are Pro Tips, Spin-Off Jobs and micro biographies of young people pursuing their dreams in similar fields to the featured person. This book is full of inspiration and would make the perfect graduation gift.

I love the decision to put in the jobs that helped create the book and feature all of the different people who were involved in the publishing at Pajama Press Inc. What a fun way to show readers the different jobs for all of the book lovers!

To keep things fun, Scot Ritchie adds illustrative flair to each page. Each page features a cartoon picture of the person featured doing the job that they love. It’s always a good day when you can be immortalized as a cartoon!
