If you follow my Instagram you already know I’m a huge Cale Atkinson fan and can never resist any of his titles.  Sir Simon Super Scarer published by Tundra Books is his newest published work as both author and illustrator and it is spook-tacular. What a clever, sweet little story featuring the most adorable little ghost I have ever laid eyes on.  I can’t wait to share this one at Halloween! In case you were wondering all of the art in the book was created with Ghost toots and Photoshop...hilarious!

Cale Atkinson’s stories are incredibly clever, heartfelt and always surprising.  He is sure to leave hidden gems throughout to keep you smiling, laughing, and curious.  Even his dedications are memorable.

In Sir Simon Super Scarer, Sir Simon Spookington gets transferred a lot.  He has haunted all kinds of things, bus stops, bears, a boat and he is finally getting his dream posting: a haunted house!  The only problem, haunted houses call for more ghost chores. Luckily, a grandma is moving in; they are the best to scare. However, Grandma has brought a kid with her, Chester, who is so pumped to meet a ghost he wants to be a ghost too.  

It seems Chester has to move around quite a bit just like Simon. Together they find a way to make life a little more interesting, fun, and less lonely.  At it’s heart, Sir Simon Super Scarer is a magnificent buddy story. As always, Cale Atkinson leaves all kinds of little surprises hidden in the book art. You can return to this wonderful book over and over and you will notice new things hidden in the pictures.  You can always count on a Cale Atkinson authored or illustrated book to have a special surprise under the jacket. You will not be able to resist Simon’s little ghost bum on the back cover!
