Stop the Summer Slide
Want to help your middle grader avoid the summer slide? Want to inspire them to be creative and keep their reading and writing sharp? Pick up a copy of “An Awesometastic Story Collection” The Creativity Project edited by Colby Sharp with contributions from many incredible authors and illustrators including some excellent Canadians: Debbie Ridpath Ohi, Jess Keating, Frank Viva, and Mariko Tamaki.
The book is set up with a series of prompts and responses written by the various contributors. The prompt may be a quick sentence, an illustration, or maybe a paragraph. The responses are equally as diverse ranging from comics, to poetry, to prose, to dynamic illustrations. The Creativity Project is set to inspire. After gaining inspiration from all the lovely authors, illustrators, and teachers, you are set up with your own prompts to inspire your own creativity. The choice of response is yours: comic art, prose, poetry, anything goes! It’s such an inspiring book for your budding author or if you are just looking for ways to inspire your child to get reading and writing over the summer holidays. Teachers: it is also an incredible book for the classroom to help fuel your student’s creative writing when they get back at it in September.
