Beautiful Buzzy Bee Book
We can never leave the bookstore without one or more books for our own personal collection. When shopping for a birthday gift for a friend we picked up The Honeybee by Kirsten Hall and Isabelle Arsenault, published by Simon & Schuster: a buzzy, loopy, swoopy, wonderful read.
My little Bee chose this beautiful book because she was called Honeybee from the moment she was born. She thought it would be fun to have a book with her name. I was all for her choice since I am totally in love with Isabelle Arsenault’s work and her art in The Honeybee is no exception. The vibrant colours and the happy little honeybees make this a book you will have to have on your shelves for the art alone. You will start to read and will be spellbound. Kirsten Hall tells the story of the life of a honeybee: searching for flowers, collecting nectar, turning it into honey, and hibernating for the winter. Told in a lyrical, rhyming voice, The Honeybee is a non-fiction picture book full of anticipation and excitement. Not only are you getting a fabulous little story, you are learning all about the process of turning nectar into honey. Another wonderful thing this book accomplishes is giving children an appreciation for the importance of the honeybee, a threatened species we need to embrace and protect. Written in a way that makes it perfect as a read aloud, it’s such a wonderful book for your science learning.
