Hi.

Welcome to my reviews.  Enjoy, take some time to discover a new book!  Happy reading!

Animals Move

Animals Move

An adorable and durable book for young children, Animals Move by Jane Whittingham inspires little people to get up and move like their favourite animals.

Throughout the book, the simple text tells readers how different baby animals move. From kittens to puggles, each of the animals moves in a different way, just like children do. Parents and teachers can use this book to inspire gross motor activities, especially when weather keeps us indoors at this time of the year.

Each two page spread features a photo of a baby animal as well as a child moving in a specific way. I love that Jane Whittingham and the designer Lorena González Guillén choose baby animals that are familiar as well as some that are not as familiar. Children have the opportunity to learn the names of baby porcupines and baby alpacas!! Also, the children featured alongside the animals come from a variety of backgrounds and are of varying abilities creating a very inclusive story in which all children, regardless of how they move in the world, feel seen and included.

As with Pajama Press’s other Big Concept, Little Books, there is a handy parental/teacher’s guide at the back so that adults can extend the learning and enjoyment of the story. Animals Move is a superb book for an Early Years classroom.
