Benny the Bananasaurus Rex
Bananas and T-Rexs, who would have thought they would make the perfect combination. SaraBeth Holden, that’s who. In her funny and sweet story, Benny the Bananasaurus Rex, illustrated by Emma Pederson, readers live out their dinosaur dreams.
Benny is a boy, make that a T-Rex who LOVES bananas. He loves bananas all day every day. He loves them so much, he wishes he could turn into a banana, when he’s done being a T-Rex of course.
SaraBeth Holden has created a wonderfully, silly story that many children will request over and over again. I love that she incorporates the words for mother and grandmother in Inuktitut into the story to share her Inuit culture with readers and to show readers that there are many different names for mothers and everyone’s household is different.
In my experience most children not only love dinosaurs but they also love bananas. I have yet to meet a preschooler who wasn’t intrigued by either. Benny the Bananasaurus is a story that is easily shared in a cuddle up moment as well as a read aloud with a group and will be a story that is much loved and requested!
Emma Pederson’s illustrations are so much fun! They are big and bold with so much energy and movement. Readers will LOVE seeing Benny transform from boy to T-Rex to Bananasaurus throughout the story and will laugh along with the silly things he does.
