Bright Lights and Summer Nights

Bright Lights and Summer Nights

From the brilliant and poetic mind of Shauntay Grant comes a wonderful story to end the day. Bright Lights and Summer Nights, illustrated by Zach Manbeck is a moving meditation and ode to a summer night.

Inspired by Margaret Wise Brown’s Good Night Moon, Shauntay Grant inspires a new generation of little readers to cozy up and settle in for a night’s rest. The simple, lyrical text takes readers through a night out with friends, human and animal, while they play and observe before making it back to bed.

Shauntay Grant creates a mood in this story perfect for the bedtime or naptime routine. It’s relaxing and calming. The text is big and bold for young readers to begin connecting text with words and really easy to read. The story is a wonderful blend of some of our bedtime favourites, new and old.

This story had a real Wrinkle in Time presence to it. It is magical, whimsical and grand thanks not only to Shauntay Grant’s beautiful text but also to Zach Manbeck’s ethereal illustrations. Using a distinct colour palette of blues, greens and yellows, readers are transported with the characters in the story through the fields, country roads and carnivals until they reach their bedtime destination.
