Greetings Floof!

Greetings Floof!

Greetings Floof! by debut picture book author C. J. Hong and illustrated by A. J. Smith takes readers on an interactive adventure.

Meet Floof and friendly alien creature that has just arrived on earth from planet Ploof. As all good scientists do, readers get to observe Floof, make hypotheses and help Floof get back to planet Ploof all in one story.

C.J. Hong takes inspiration from the works of Hervé Tullet (Press Here) and has created a super fun story book about an alien visiting planet earth for the first time. I LOVE how she has created a really exciting narrative while also making the book extremely interactive and appropriate not only as a cuddle up story but also as a read aloud. Greetings Floof! would live so perfectly in a preschool and/or early years classroom where readers can engage with the story and learn a little bit of scientific language at the same time.

The concept of the alien coming to Earth to learn about the planet lends itself perfectly to starting to develop scientific language with young readers. Words like hypothesis and research start readers on a scientific journey while also keeping the reading exciting. This story is one that readers would very easily and quickly begin to retell.

A.J. Smith’s illustrations add to the excitement of the story. Readers will not be able to handle the adorable Floof and the many creatures they encounter throughout the story. Through the illustrations, the book feels like a cartoon short that readers will enjoy returning to often.
