Hi.

Welcome to my reviews.  Enjoy, take some time to discover a new book!  Happy reading!

Meet Buffy Sainte-Marie

Meet Buffy Sainte-Marie

Another amazing title in the Scholastic Canada Biography series, Meet Buffy Sainte-Marie is all about one of Canada’s most prolific singer-songwriters but she’s so much more than that!

Travel back and forth through time and learn all about Buffy Sainte-Marie and just how much she has done throughout her life thus far.

Elizabeth McLeod has outdone herself with this narrative non fiction addition to the series. Before reading I knew of Buffy Sainte-Marie because of her music and her recent picture books but I had no idea about the various ways in which she has been supporting, advocating and uplifting Indigenous Peoples throughout Turtle Island. Elizabeth McLeod has done impeccable research and informs readers of just how special this woman is. From her protests songs about the war in Viet nam, her advocacy for Indigenous representation in television and film, as well as all of her charitable endeavours. There is nothing this woman hasn’t done!

Readers will be inspired to listen to her music and learn more about the various ways she has made the world a better place. Some will hopefully be inspired to follow in Buffy’s footsteps and start advocating for their own communities and the creatures around them. It’s an inspiring read that will leave readers wanting to know more and lend a hand.

Mike Deas really captures the essence of Buffy in the illustrations. He positive, electric personality shines though off the pages!
