Hi.

Who Made The Mess?

Who Made The Mess?

Anyone out there have a Not Me monster in their house? I distinctly remember a Not Me monster invading my house constantly when I was a child. Elise Gravel brilliantly takes the idea of the Not Me monster and expands on it in her hilarious picture book Not Me.

Elise Gravel’s stories are always so, so funny! She is adept at taking really common childhood occurrences and happenings and turning them into funny stories that also teach us some important lessons. In Not Me, the Not Me monster strikes, but was the mess created by Not Me? Perhaps it was Not True or even Not Fair. Its an extremely humourous look at making excuses and placing blame on someone else, rather than accepting wrong doing. I love how she has taken something very simple such as a mess of socks to illustrated how silly it truly is when we point fingers at others. There is no monster making all of the messes in real life, we just have to take the time to clean up.

Illustrated in her distinct style, with interesting creatures, in a graphic/comic book style and dark outlines to bring the story to life. We also love that Dad is wearing a shirt with the CBC logo. Definitely pick this book up for all the mess makers in your home.
