Hi.

Simon and Chester: Super Frenemies

Simon and Chester: Super Frenemies

Simon and Chester are back and things are about to get messy in the fifth installment in this amazing graphic novel series. Simon and Chester Super Frenemies is everything this reader wants in this continuing story.

Chester is trying to convince Simon that his friend Amie is not evil, despite being a ghost catchers daughter and a ghost hater. Alternately, Chester is also trying to convince Amie that Simon really is a great friend and really won’t eat your cat. When Chester ends up being caught in the ghost trap, Amie and Simon have to work together to save their best friend.

Cale Atkinson once again brings the humour and the sass that readers have come to rely on in the series while also leaving us with a heart warming and unexpected conclusion to the story. I love how Cale’s own best buddy Charlie makes an appearance in the story as well as some wonderful callbacks to previous books.

This story had the whole family laughing from the first page to the last in the longest of the Simon and Chester stories. I appreciate how the series has grown with readers, starting as a picture book and each book getting a little longer and a little more sophisticated as the story progressed. The puns were fantastic and the humour was spot on equally for myself as well as my 13 year old and 10 year old readers so its really a series that the whole family can enjoy, regardless of age.

The book is large and the illustrations are big and bold putting it in the same category as the PAWS series and Dog Man so fans of those beloved series will absolutely dig Simon and Chester!
