The Imaginary Library

The Imaginary Library

The Imaginary Alphabet by Sylvie Daigneault is a treasure book that readers will remember.

Do you have a book from your childhood that always stands out in your mind? If you see it again you have vivid and fond memories of discovering it and reading it first with an adult and then perhaps later on your own. The Imaginary Alphabet is one of these books.

An alphabet book featuring animals, each two page spread showcases the letter on the left hand side and a whimsical illustration on the right hand side. What makes this book stand out is the texture on each letter, highlighting something from the illustration. The illustrations are jam packed with tons of things that start with the featured letter. Not only can readers go through the alphabet and learn the letters one by one, they also get a scavenger hunt to try and figure out all of the things in each illustration that start with the featured letters.

This book is such a treasure and is so vivid and colourful, its a book that will always stand out in the minds of young readers and will be a book they return to again and again as a source of familiarity and comfort.
