Field Trip Shenanigans
We LOVE supporting local authors and were very excited for the second Grandmasaurus story by Caroline Fernandez and Shannon O’Toole titled The adventures of Grandmasaurus at the Aquarium Rescue Centre.
In this new instalment, Grandma joins the kids on a field trip at the aquarium rescue centre and of course she is once again up to her “funny business”. A little bit of aquarium dust and grandma is sneezing all over the place and transforming into all kinds of ocean dwelling prehistoric creatures.
Readers who love dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures will have a ball reading this story. Also, if you have readers who love the aquarium, this story is a great choice as well. Caroline Fernandez peppers the story with facts about prehistoric ocean giants as well as the dos and don’t of visiting the aquarium. If you have an aquarium in your city, you may need to take a visit after a read through this funny story.
Shannon O’Toole’s illustrations are once again fantastic. Highly engaging, full of colour and aquarium sights, I suspect she may have been inspired by a trip to our local Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto as many of the illustrations felt very familiar.
It’s so great when readers can connect with stories in a variety of ways. In this story it is a love for dinosaurs, aquarium creatures or local attractions that will hook readers.
