The Adventures of Grandmasaurus at the Supermarket
Venture along on another field trip with Grandma and the class as they head to the grocery store in The Adventures of Grandmasaurus at the Supermarket by Caroline Fernandez and Shannon O’Toole
Grandma is up to her old field trip tricks, this time at the supermarket. When the kids head there with their teacher, Ms. Priya, not only do they learn all about healthy eating but they also learn about ten different prehistoric creatures.
Caroline Fernandez has once again captivated young readers in this silly story about a grandmother who transforms into a whole bunch of prehistoric creatures while on a field trip with her grandchildren. I love how the only people who notice grandmasaurus are the grandchildren who frantically try to get grandma to stop changing in a fun role reversal story. I could feel the anxiety and worry from the kids as they try and corral Grandma. Definitely a story that all rule followers and rule breakers will relate to.
For readers who love dinosaurs there’s a little bit of learning wrapped into the funny story and for those who love a silly story, there is the added bonus of learning a little more about dinosaurs! Grandmasaurus is a book that will spark the imaginations of young readers.
Shannon O’Toole’s illustrations are wonderful. Bright and colourful, she captures all of the joy of a trip to the grocery store to see all the different fruits and vegetables and yummy food on display. I love how the team included the seafood section because who doesn't love a trip to the lobster tank!
