Puffin and Penguin

A new story for those who love a graphic novel, Puffin and Penguin by Helaine Becker and Kevin Sylvester will have readers laughing and learning how to be a good friend.

Puffin has just moved to New Stork City and is finding it hard to make friends. Even though Penguin was assigned to be his buddy, he’s still struggling. When they work out their differences and both help out in the drama club production, they both realise how their super powers can come to the rescue.

 I love a good buddy story and this has everything readers could want. Birds, drama, friendship and humour make this a story that many readers will enjoy. Helaine Becker makes sure to include many groan worthy puns which are my favourite kind! Kevin Sylvester amps up the humour through the illustrations. It’s so fun to take a closer look at all of the different birds in the story and their clothing and personalities. It is very clear that both author and illustrator had a really fun time writing this story!

Helaine Becker reminds readers that moving is hard! Being the new kid or the new bird in town is difficult but readers can make it easier on themselves and their peers by showing a little compassion just like Puffin and Penguin.
